Hay is an attractive market town offering around more than 20 bookshops, as well as cafes and pubs, an ice cream parlour, boutique cinema, art galleries, and independent shops selling clothes, gifts and local crafts. Hay offers easy access to River Wye and a great base for walks on Offa’s Dyke and The Wye Valley Walk.

The historic city of Hereford (10 miles) with its stunning Cathedral, houses the award winning Mappa Mundi and Chained Library exhibition. Hereford is a vibrant market town with cafes and restaurants, an indoor market and a new shopping area – Old Market, now with a multi-screen cinema.

The Brecon Beacons.The Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons, across the border in Wales, are only a short drive away as is the River Wye with its opportunities for canoeing and fishing.

The local pub (Preston-on-Wye) is a 15 minute walk. The nearest shop/post office is in the village of Madley (5 miles) and there is an excellent farm shop at Oakchurch Farm just across the River Wye.The Waitrose supermarket in Hereford will deliver groceries, ordered online, with two days’ notice.
